Module 5 reflection discussion and next steps

        This module’s goals were:

        • Understanding how your vision statement can be used as a tool for inclusion.
        • Developing strategies for effective individual planning meetings with the school.
        • Understanding how to proactively stand up for your child’s rights, needs and interests (advocacy)

Use the discussion board below to share:

        • 3 new things you learnt
        • What was the most beneficial part of participating in this Course?

          1. I have learnt to make a vision statement and to be able to use that for any in school meetings
          2. I have learnt exactly what inclusive education is, and knowing what I can and do not have to accept if it is not inclusive
          3. I now know I can utilise the tools on the family advocacy website, as well as contacting FA for any advice or assistance.

The most beneficial part of this course was knowing that we’re not alone in the world of advocating for our children. If we don’t do it, who will? Having a good relationship with the school will go a long way in benefiting the child in the long run.
